5. Placements | Shoppable Video for Superscale

Placements: Connecting Content, Design, and Destinations

The Placements section is the final step in the setup process. Here, you connect a specific Playlist to a specific Appearance and define the exact URLs or App Screens where this combined experience should be displayed to your shoppers.

To begin creating a new Placement:

  1. Navigate to the Placements section in the BamHub dashboard.
  2. Click the + New button in the top right corner.

1. Setup Tab: Defining Your Display Locations

The Setup tab is where you decide precisely where your Shoppable Videos will appear on your website or app.

Manual URL Entry

If you only need your videos to appear on a few specific pages, you can add them manually:

  • Click "Add URL" and input the full URL for each page.

If you need to display your content across many pages (e.g., all product pages, all category pages), we recommend using Placement Rules for automation and scalability.

You can choose from two field types: URL or Component ID.

A. URL Rules

This allows you to match videos to pages based on patterns in the URL address.

Condition

Description

Recommended Use Case

Equal

The URL must be exactly the value you input. (The format here is a link).

Targeting a single, specific page.

Contains all words

The URL must contain all the individual words you input (separated by spaces).

Targeting pages that contain two or more specific keywords or slugs (e.g., sale and summer).

Contains any words

The URL must contain at least one of the words you input.

Targeting pages that belong to a few different categories (e.g., shoes or bags).

Does not equal

Excludes one exact URL from your rule set.

Excluding a single outlier page (like a test or discontinued product page).

Does not contain

Excludes pages that contain the specified words.

Excluding broad categories or products (e.g., exclude all pages containing dress or sales).

Rule Combination Examples:

Rules can be combined using AND logic to create highly targeted Placements:

Example Rule Set

Description

Rule 1: Match where URL $\text{contains}$ /products/ AND Rule 2: Match where URL $\text{does not contain}$ shirts

Reads as: Distribute this Placement on all product pages, but explicitly exclude any product pages that include the word "shirts" in the URL.

Rule 1: Match where URL $\text{contains}$ /product/ AND Rule 2: Match where URL $\text{Does not equal}$ https://example.com/product/my-amazing-product-sku

Reads as: Distribute on all product pages, except for this single, specific product page URL.

B. Component ID

This is used when you need to display multiple Playlists on a single web page, or when your development team has defined specific content slots.

  • Choose Component ID and enter the designated ID into the Value field. This ensures the videos are included only in the specified element on the page.

Matching URLs Preview

As you add rules that match URLs, a list of resulting matching pages will appear on the right-hand side of your screen. This helps you verify your rule logic immediately.

💡 Note on Matches:

  • Matches will only appear if you have successfully embedded the Bambuser script on those pages and there has been at least one visitor to the page within the last 30 days. Make sure you have completed the technical integration before this step. (Read more about the technical integration [here]).
  • To keep the view manageable, we initially only show five results. Click "Show all" to expand the list.
  • In the expanded list, you can double-check the URLs and manually exclude any specific URLs from the matching set if necessary.

2. Content Tab: Finalizing the Placement

Once you are done setting up your URLs and Placement Rules, click Next to move to the Content tab.

This is the final configuration step where you:

  1. Select and attach a Playlist (your video content).
  2. Select and attach an Appearance (your desired look and feel).

When both are attached and you are ready to make the Placement live, simply click Publish.
